Changing Minds, Hearts & Futures through the Capitals

Changing the attitude and baseball culture in New England is one of our main goals. Through our partnership with Baseball City, the dream of baseball skill building all year long is now attainable with the CT Capitals Baseball Club. Baseball City’s state-of-the-art, indoor training facility is not only one of the best in New England, but the entire country. It allows our organization to compete with the nation's best Travel Programs, and puts us on the path to a championship-caliber club. There is never an off-season for us or our coaching staff. We are constantly teaching, planning, and organizing though out the off-season and into the championship season.

The Premier Coaching Staff in New England

The coaching staff is the lifeblood of our program. We only hire people that possess a baseball background. Our coaching staff is what separates us from other baseball clubs. Our coaches have played or coached in a high school program, collegiate baseball program or professional organization. Our owner, Bill Masse, is currently a Major League Special Assignment Scout for the Seattle Mariners. The instruction our coaches will provide from their playing and coaching experience cannot be matched by other organizations. Our coaching staff will share their personal experiences playing and coaching baseball, and the importance of dedication and hard work to achieving success on the field.

Typically, the coaches in our program are not parents of players but can be because some parents have excellent baseball credentials that we are looking for. The coaches we select have solid baseball credentials (professional, college and high school experience) and must be teachers in the truest sense. They will all follow the Connecticut Capitals curriculum developed by Bill Masse. The Capitals will be run like a professional organization - every level will follow the same curriculum with adjustments being made for each age level. All our coaches must have a component of teaching in their resume and even more important, must have unmatched passion for working with kids.

The Ultimate Goal of "Being the Best You Can Be"

If you’re looking for a future in baseball, the Connecticut Capitals is truly the premier Baseball Club not only in Connecticut & New England but the entire country. We strive to make sure each player reaches their goals in the game and being the best he can be both on and off the field.

Typical Season

Weekly Practice Schedule - A typical practice week during the regular season consists of one midweek, outdoor practice at our home field(s) and one midweek, indoor practice at Baseball City.

Regular Season - Regular season schedule consists of 20-35 League & Open Games. Open games will be played early in the regular season against other travel and AAU teams from CT and all of New England and the Northeast. All League and Open games will help prepare the team for tournament and state qualifying games.

Tournaments - Local/Regional Tournaments will be played throughout the season. These tournaments vary from year to year.

National Tournament - A National Tournament may be played in various locations throughout the country.

Practices & Open Play Schedule – Individual coaches/teams are encouraged to schedule more games and practices as they see appropriate in order to prepare for tournament play. We encourage our coaches to seek out and play the very best programs so our teams and players can get better.

Total Games - range from 30 to 55 depending on your level of play (see each Teams information packet for more details). Games schedule includes: Regular season (league and non-league play), Local/Regional Tournaments and potential National Tournament)

College Exposure

One of the ultimate goals of the Connecticut Capitals Organization is to get your son into college through playing baseball. We play in the best local /regional/national tournaments where student-athletes will find the most college exposure. We are always in contact with college coaches from around the country who are interested in our teams and players.

Our owner, Bill Masse, has relationships both collegiately and professionally through out the country that is unmatched. We offer online videos that can be viewed by college coaches and professional scouts along with information regarding each player.  Please check out all our former players who have gone on to play in college and professionally in the Alumni section.

Winter Workout Program

The baseball program conducts program wide workouts during the winter from December, January, February and March until the start of the season. Sessions will be announced and are conducted during the weekday evenings or Saturday, Sunday mornings or evenings at Baseball City. Winter workouts sessions are important to attend and designed to build on the fundamentals in order for us to hit the outdoor season in full stride around the 1st of April.

Teams also conduct weeknight team workouts in March - both at Baseball City and our home practice fields if weather allows. The coaching staff uses these sessions to begin preparing the team for the season which begins the first week of April.

Video Analysis - All our players will be able to use the video analysis program that is available in Baseball City. With this program, our players are recorded and their mechanics (pitching, hitting, fielding, catching) will be dissected by our coaches and instructors, to ensure they are developing to their true potential.

Homework - All of our players are required to do "homework". All our players must put in the time to be great and I can assure you this does not happen by mistake. Our player development program is designed to teach the "correct" way to develop baseball skills.

CT Capitals Membership @ Baseball City is included in the cost of the CT Capital Baseball program. This entitles you to use of the facility at our special member rates once you have been chosen to a team all the way through the season and until next season's tryouts. As long as you are a Capital, the CT Capitals Membership is yours to use.
