The Passion for Baseball and Teaching

I guess you could say that I was meant to have a baseball facility in Connecticut to call my own. I grew up in Manchester, went to East Catholic High School and have forever called Connecticut my home. My family recently moved back to my hometown in Manchester after living in Florida for the past 15 years. Baseball City was created from a passion for baseball and a desire to have an indoor training/teaching facility for all ages in the central Connecticut area. Together, with my partners John Fote and Mark Bagdasarian, we have constructed a truly “awesome facility.” Baseball City is a dream come true for all three of us. We are proud and humble to bring this state-of-the-art facility to Connecticut for all ages to enjoy – a place I will always call home.

The Passion for Competing and Having Fun

If there is one thing I want my past teammates and current players to remember about me, the first thing that comes to their minds when they think of Bill Masse, it’s “that guy competes to win more than anyone I’ve ever met – and he has fun doing it.” After I finished my 7 year playing career with the New York Yankees in 1995, I went back to Wake Forest University to finish my college degree and figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Well, I figured out that teaching baseball, competing to win and having fun is what I do best – I guess you could say it’s in my blood. Today, I get to teach and manage the game I love at the professional level, and I’ve met some of the greatest players and coaches in the game throughout my career. Learning from these players and coaches is the backbone of my teaching – an open mind and a thirst for more knowledge is the key to success.

Baseball will always be a part of my life – the teaching, the competing, learning to be a good teammate and the rewards of being a member of a team that is striving to be the best it can be. However, the thing I probably enjoy most is the pure fun of smacking a ball with a bat and watching it go out of sight! When it comes right down to it, I’m still just a big kid and fan who loves to watch the pure beauty of a baseball game.

I can’t wait to help kids learn and grow in the game of baseball in the area that I grew up in. So get ready to have some serious fun – I’m looking forward to meeting you!

BILLY BALL PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION

Billy Ball Professional Instruction is headed by Baseball Cities own Bill Masse, former minor league player for the New York Yankees and now the present manager for the Double A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, a Toronto Blue Jays affiliate. Bill Masse brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Baseball City as the head instructor. Bill is all about player development and he will bring out the best in each one of our campers through his step-by-step teaching method. To support Bill Masse and his crusade of improving the skill levels of all players in the Connecticut area, Bill has assembled a teaching staff like no other in this area. He has carefully selected a teaching staff of present and former high school coaches, collegiate players and professional players. Billy Ball instructors are trained and adhere to the Billy Ball Baseball curriculum with consistency and passion. Billy Ball Professional Instruction offers basic, intermediate and advanced clinics in the areas of pitching, hitting, fielding, defense, baserunning, catching and specific position play for all ages. The baseball/softball skills, friendships, sportsmanship and teamwork you will learn from being with and around Bill Masse will last you a lifetime.
